character creation

The CoS sim utilizes a customized version of GPHUD for roleplay and combat-related mechanics. Before approval, we strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the system here on the website, as once your stats are set, they cannot be reset.Just like in real life, so too  in the world of Game of Thrones, every choice is final, and there are no second chances. Players are allowed to self-retire and test characters before approval, including experimenting with stats.

However, once approved and assigned to a faction, your stats cannot be changed, and character retirement is only permitted for valid in-character (IC) reasons.

If you choose to retire your active character, you will not be re-added to the same faction. Plan accordingly.

For any questions regarding HUD mechanics or combat,
Please open a Combat Ticket on our Discord server for assistance.

stations

Each player may have one approved character who will be integrated into the world system of Westeros within CoS. Once your application is approved, you will be required to provide your GPHUD character name and will gain the ability to allocate stat points as you see fit.

Upon character creation, you will first choose your station within Westeros: Noble, Smallfolk, or Knight. Your chosen status will grant you specific initial advantages, shaping your character’s starting position, resources, and social influence in the world. Choose wisely, as your station will impact your opportunities and challenges from the very beginning.

The stations of Royal and Head of House are not selectable at character creation. These prestigious ranks are granted by admins upon approval and based on in-game progression, roleplay, and story development.

You have 6 points to distribute, so choose wisely. Even if you do not start as a Head of House, should your story lead you to that position, you will not be able to reset or reassign your attributes. Plan strategically, every choice matters.

Breakdown of the stations

  • Noblehas 4 HP health, has a bonus of +1 Intrigue

  • Smallfolk - has 3 HP health, has a bonus of +1 attack

  • Knight - has 4 HP health, has a bonus of +1 Defense

  • Head of Househas 4 HP health, has a bonus  of +1 Intrigue & +1 Charisma

  • Royalhas 4 HP health, has a bonus of +2 Intrigue

Keep in mind that CoS is a story-driven sim, where roleplay takes priority over HUD-based rolls.
The HUD is designed to enhance gameplay, create diverse outcomes, and introduce unexpected twists,
but it should never replace the story itself. Roleplay always comes first.
In the event of disagreement on outcome between player involved parties,
mods may ask you to roll hud dice to settle the IC scene.

step by step guide

step 1: choosing your character's  name

Upon arriving at the sim, you will be prompted to enter your character’s name via hud pop up. This must include both a first name and surname of character, not your legacy name or display name. This ensures your character is properly integrated into the HUD system and linked to our website database, which tracks rolls, stats, money transfers, and more.

step 2: choosing your station

Now it's time to determine your character’s station within CoS, which will shape their social standing, opportunities, and initial advantages. You may choose from three available categories:

  • Noble

  • Smallfolk

  • Knight

Some stations provide a minor boost to a single stat, reflecting the different lifestyles and training associated with that background.

There are also two additional prestigious stations:

  • Royal

  • Head of House

Clarification:
If your character is a knighted noble, you must decide which path they prioritize:

  • Have they fully dedicated themselves to the duties of knighthood, focusing on martial training and combat?

  • Or have they embraced court life, placing more importance on politics, intrigue, and noble responsibilities?

You may only choose one station, and this choice is permanent once approved. Ensure your station aligns with your application, as staff may review and adjust your selection if they determine it does not fit your character’s background.

step 3: assigning ability points

Next, you will distribute your ability points. These choices are permanent. Before approval, you may retire and recreate your character if needed, but once your application is approved and your character is added to a Faction through the HUD, these stats cannot be changed or reset. Self-retirement will no longer be an option, only staff approval will allow character retirement after this point. If you retire after approval you will not gain your character back.

step 4: head of house & combat tickets

If you are a Head of House (HoH), you must open a Combat Ticket and contact the Combat Team to allocate House stats appropriately.

  • If a Head of House remains inactive for the first month, the Combat Team will reach out to the heir or the first male played character to temporarily assume leadership and assign stats.

  • If no male characters are available, leadership will pass to the first female played character in the House.

  • Once points have been allocated, they cannot be changed, even if a new Head of House (HoH) is assigned. This reflects the reality that inheriting a position comes with both its advantages and its inherent weaknesses. When you take on the mantle of leadership, you also take on the strengths and limitations of that house, ensuring that every rise to power comes with meaningful consequences.

step 5: dragon owners

Players who possess a dragon, either from the start, taming a wild one or after hatching, are required to open a Combat Ticket. Each dragon will receive a unique stat setup based on random flat rolls, ensuring that their wild and unpredictable nature is properly reflected.
This system guarantees that no two dragons are the same, adding an element of unpredictability to their abilities and making each one truly unique.
