weekly rumors in harrenhal
Each week, a total of five rumors will circulate within the sim:
-
Three false rumors – These will be completely fabricated by the Story Team.
-
Two player-submitted rumors – These must be based on in-character (IC) knowledge.
Important Guidelines for Submissions
-
No OOC Conflicts: This system is not a means to address out-of-character (OOC) disputes or grievances with other players. Any attempt to do so will not be entertained.
-
IC Knowledge Only: All rumors submitted by players must be grounded in in-character observations and interactions.
-
The Entire Sim is IC: Every part of the sim is considered an in-character environment, and actions taken within it can be used as the basis for rumors.
-
The sim is set within Harrenhal and its various rooms.
-
While for building purposes, regional areas, rentals, and consulates may appear spread out, they are still considered part of Harrenhal in character.
-
This means that where you go, what you do, and who you interact with can have consequences.
-
Example of a Valid Rumor Submission
-
An unwed noble lady seen entering a nobleman’s private chambers—who is not her family—may attract speculation.
-
A drunken nobleman making a scene in the tavern could become a topic of gossip.
-
A highborn socializing too frequently with workers in the pleasure house might raise eyebrows.
Story Team Discretion
-
Submission does not guarantee inclusion. The Story Team will review all submitted rumors and determine whether they fit the setting, tone, and narrative direction of the sim.
-
Some rumors may be adjusted or reworded for consistency before being released.
-
If a rumor is deemed inappropriate, off-theme, or OOC-driven, it will not be used.
Administrative Oversight
-
The Rumor Mill is intended as a fun, immersive storytelling tool, but it must remain within the bounds of good roleplay.
-
If this system is abused, creates unnecessary conflict, or becomes disruptive to the sim, the Admin Team reserves the right to shut it down entirely.
Maintaining Mystery
-
The Story Team will enforce anonymity by assigning an alias to submitted rumors, preserving a sense of mystery while maintaining authenticity in the storytelling.
