– Character vs. Egg Rolls
In this 4-week interactive process, characters must roll against the egg’s own attributes to determine how the hatchling develops.
These rolls will influence the dragon’s health, strength, obedience, and loyalty, making every choice and roll meaningful.
Each week, characters roll using their own attributes (ATK, DEF, CHA, INT) against the egg’s attributes (MAJ, DES, OBE).
Hatching Outcome Table (Based on Roll Successes)
4/4 Successes
Perfect Dragon – Strong, healthy, and loyal to its rider. Does not need taming
3/4 Successes
Stable Dragon – Well-formed but may have one minor flaw (-1 obedience or -1 Majesty). Needs taming.
2/4 Successes
Struggling Dragon – Weaker or slower, requiring extra care and training. (-2 obedience or -2 Majesty and -1 Destruction ). Needs taming.
1/4 Successes
Troubled Dragon – Stunted, aggressive, or extremely defiant. (-2 obedience or -2 Majesty and -2 Destruction ). Needs taming.
0/4 Successes
Dead Egg or Failed Hatchling – The egg does not hatch, or the dragon is stillborn.

(Charisma vs. Majesty) (Defense vs. destruction)
-
Purpose: Ensures the egg survives the incubation process - too much or too little heat can weaken or kill the dragon inside.
-
Roll: Character’s Defense (DEF) vs. Egg’s Destruction (DES)
-
Success: The egg is heated properly, absorbing the warmth needed for a strong hatchling
-
Success roll example : Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 9 (9), versus 1d20, scoring 5 (5) for Week 2 hatch, and SUCCEEDED! (9v5)
-
-
Failure: TThe egg either overheats or stays too cold, leading to a weaker, less developed dragon.
-
Failure roll example : Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 6 (6), versus 1d20, scoring 16 (16) for Week 2 Hatch, and FAILED! (6v16)
-
-
Critical Failure Nat 1 roll by player: The egg becomes petrified. (if Nat one is rolled, no bonuses are considered.)
-
Crit Fail Example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 1 (1), versus 1d20, scoring 12 (12) for Week 1 Hatch, and FAILED! (1v12)

Critical Failure Nat 1 roll by player: The shell cracks prematurely, causing stillborn dragon. (if Nat one is rolled, no bonuses are considered.)

(Intrigue vs. Obedience) (Attack vs. Destruction)
-
Purpose: Tests if the character can coax the dragon into emerging early by whispering Valyrian phrases or using draconic knowledge.
-
Roll: Character’s Intrigue (INT) vs. Egg’s Obedience (OBE)
-
Success: The hatchling stirs within the shell, recognizing its rider’s voice and will.
-
Success roll example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20(+bias 5), scoring 6 (1+5), versus 1d20, scoring 1 (1) for Week 3 Hatch, and SUCCEEDED! (6v1)
-
-
Failure: The dragon remains dormant, making it harder to control once hatched.
-
Failure roll example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20(+bias 5), scoring 13 (8+5), versus 1d20, scoring 18 (18) for Week 3 Hatch, and FAILED! (13v18)
-
-
Critical Failure Nat 1 roll by player: The dragon rejects the influence, becoming a wild dragon, untamed
-
Crit Fail Example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 1 (1), versus 1d20, scoring 12 (12) for Week 3 Hatch, and FAILED! (1v12)
-
-
Purpose: Determines how the dragon finally emerges—strong and ready or struggling and weak.
-
Roll: Character’s Attack (ATK) vs. Egg’s Destruction (DES) → If using force (cracking the shell, fire, or combat
-
Success: The dragon hatches fully formed, strong, and responsive to its new rider.
-
Success roll example : Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 3 (3), versus 1d20, scoring 1 (1) for Week 4 Hatch, and SUCCEEDED! (3v1)
-
-
Failure: The hatchling is weak, slow, or unsure of its rider.
-
Failure roll example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 11 (11), versus 1d20, scoring 17 (17) for Week 4 Hatch, and FAILED! (11v17)
-
-
Critical Failure Nat 1 roll by player: The shell cracks prematurely, causing stillborn dragon. (if Nat one is rolled, no bonuses are considered.)
-
Crit Fail Example: The shell cracks prematurely, causing birth defects or a stillborn dragon
-
Crit Fail Example: Alanna Velaryon rolled against CM Dragon Egg, using 1d20, scoring 1 (1), versus 1d20, scoring 12 (12) for Week 4 Hatch, and FAILED! (1v12)
